The Wens Lens Ultra Cool Blue (Original and Electric Ice) is 2 pieces of glass adhered together surface to surface with an optical adhesive, preventing any debris or moisture building up between the 2 glasses. The bottom side is the actual welding filter which gives the welder protection from UV and IR rays and meets all required welding lens safety standards. The top side is a new technology glass which has the mirror coating built within the glass which prevents it from being scratched off and also extends the life of the lens. This new technology glass has a definition/clarification enhancement and filters out all except for Blue Lightning.

From the manufacturer: This item is manufactured from unhardened glass. The lenses you will receive are in NEW condition and have never been used. The gold mirrored layer is actual metallic gold, which is a very soft metal. Please understand that gold metal does in fact scratch very easily and unhardened glass has a tendency to chip and nick, especially on squared corners. As a result, ALL SALES ARE FINAL. The gold coating serves the function of dissipation heat and reflecting much of the UV so that the lens itself does not have to "absorb" it, which creates much of the HEAT the hold is meant to dissipate. However, A MINOR SCRATCH IN THE LENS WILL NOT DECREASE ITS EFFECTIVENESS TO THE USER OR CAUSE VISUAL DISTORTIONS UNLESS THE SCRATCHING IS HEAVY AND OVER A WIDESPREAD AREA, OR IF THE GLASS ITSELF IS SCRATCHED. THEY WILL ONLY ACCEPT RETURNS IF THE LENS IS ABSOLUTELY UNUSABLE TO THE BUYER AT THE TIME IT IS RECEIVED. NOT 30 DAYS LATER, NOT A WEEK LATER, BUT AT THE TIME IT IS RECEIVED. IT MUST BE CHIPPED HEAVILY OVER AN AREA THAT CANNOT BE COVERED BY THE BORDER OF THE HOOD LENS RECESS, OR CRACKED, BROKEN OR SHATTERED. MINOR SCRATCHES WILL NOT QUALIFY FOR REPLACEMENT.
